Swarovski Crystals

Swarovski crystal beads are manufactured in Wattens Austria. In 1895 Daniel Swarovski set out to develop a machine that could facet cut crystal to perfection. Using the exact mixture of raw materials such as quartz, sand and precious metals, Daniel Swarovski produced crystal stones to the highest quality.  The presence of precious metals in the crystal increases the index of refraction. A high refractive index enables the crystal to bend the light more. Cutting the glass so precisely causes internal reflection from inside the shiny surface of the crystal. This results in a brilliant sparkle as the glass is tilted, adding to its beauty.

To produce the luminous Aurora Borealis crystal, a special steam treatment is used in production to create a spectacular crystal that shimmers in every imaginable colour.
